This uniquely immersive art experience features twenty-two Triangle-area visual, sound, literary, and multidisciplinary artists exploring their lived experiences of loss through activation of the entire property-the house, outbuildings, and the land.
I led a Slow Art tour of UPROOT: Bipoc Visions of Our Food System at Northstar Church of the Arts on August 15, 2024. We meditated on the photography of Madilyn Nixon-Taplet. As always, the conversation was insightful, with audience members contributing layers of meaning to Nixon-Taplet's beautiful portraits.
In March 2024, I moderated Collecting 101 at Ella West Gallery in Downtown Durham. It was a privilege to interview Durham-based art advisor Teka Selman, who has over 20 years of experience advising and building art collections for international private and institutional clients. Teka generously shared her wealth of knowledge and her expertise with a thoroughly engaged audience.
I was thrilled to be in conversation with Atlanta based artist Sachi Rome, whose work was featured in Persistence: On Our Terms at Ella West Gallery in Durham, NC.
From April 22 - July 1, 2023, Pop Box Gallery and The Art Chose Me curated three exhibits at 304 S Driver Street, Ste 102, in Old East Durham. The first exhibit was We don’t Care: reclaiming our environment. Our second exhibit was In Ecstasy, I Call Your Name So I Won’t Forget by Kennedi Carter, and the third was upstART Gallery by Jim Lee.
In May 2022, I had the privilege of interviewing photographer Kennedi Carter for the Museum Podcast. The episode is one of seven conversations with artists featured in the exhibition Reckoning and Resilience: North Carolina Art Now, which was on view from May - July 2022. William Paul Thomas was the featured artist for LIVE! 3rd Friday @ Hayti in October 2021. William is so thoughtful and very engaging. I try not to miss opportunities to hear him talk about his work, so it was a privilege to have this conversation with him.
